Smart Note · Effective date: May 23, 2026 · Last updated: May 23, 2026

Smart Note ("we", "our", or "the app") is an Android productivity application developed by GoodLuck3301. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use Smart Note.

Summary: Smart Note is designed to be local-first. Your notes, tasks, diary entries, bookmarks, and most app data are stored on your device. We do not operate user accounts, do not sell your data, and do not include advertising or analytics SDKs. Data is only sent over the internet when you explicitly enable optional features such as AI integrations or when the app needs network access for markdown rendering or calendar synchronization you choose to use.

1. Information We Do Not Collect

Smart Note does not:

2. Data Stored Locally on Your Device

The following data is stored locally on your device using on-device storage technologies (including Room database and DataStore preferences):

Android backup is disabled for the app (allowBackup="false"). You may manually export your data through the in-app Import/Export feature, optionally with password-based encryption.

3. Optional AI Assistant

If you enable the AI assistant in Settings and configure a provider (such as OpenAI or Google Gemini), messages you send — including any notes, tasks, or calendar events you attach — are transmitted directly from your device to the third-party AI provider you selected, using the API key and endpoint you provide.

We recommend reviewing the privacy policies of any AI provider you choose:

4. Device Permissions

Smart Note may request the following Android permissions to provide specific features:

You can revoke permissions at any time through your device settings. Some features may not work without the relevant permission.

5. Share Intents and Widgets

Smart Note can receive text shared from other apps to create notes, tasks, or bookmarks. This content is saved locally on your device. Home screen widgets display tasks and calendar information from your local data and device calendar; widget data is not sent to external servers by Smart Note.

6. Import and Export

When you use the Import/Export feature, data is read from or written to files and folders you select on your device. You control where exported files are stored. Optional encryption uses a password you provide; we do not have access to that password or your exported files.

7. Screenshot Blocking

If you enable "Block screenshots" in Settings, the app uses Android's secure window flag to discourage screenshots and screen recording while the app is open. This setting is processed on your device only.

8. Children's Privacy

Smart Note is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through optional third-party AI features, please contact the relevant AI provider or us using the contact information below.

9. Data Retention and Deletion

Your data remains on your device until you delete it within the app, clear app data through Android settings, or uninstall Smart Note. Uninstalling the app removes locally stored app data from your device.

10. Security

We take reasonable measures to design Smart Note with privacy in mind, including local storage, disabled cloud backup, and optional app lock. However, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure. You are responsible for securing your device and any API keys you enter for AI integrations.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of Smart Note after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
